Capability Statement

Sykesmore LLC is a minority owned small business. We operate as an independent buying agent at both the State and Federal levels. Lake Lattimore’s (our Founder/General Manager) career has spanned over three decades, serving the Department of the Army. During his time as a researcher with the US Army Corps of Engineers Research Laboratory, Lake either led or supported science projects in both CONUS and OCONUS. A major component to his duties was to have a working knowledge of the regulations and procedures that governed procurement of the necessary scientific equipment. Equipment that was purchased, and reflected best price for the Corps, often resulted from sustainable relationships with distributors and suppliers across numerous disciplines, insight into functionality, and experience from practical use of the devices. These dynamics fostered successful implementations of planned projects.

Past Procurement Performance at the State and Federal level

As an independent vendor, we respond to notifications for: set-aside contracts, orders for small businesses, and requests for quotes (RFQ), and more. Additionally, our relationship with distributors and suppliers have routinely resulted in receiving discounts offered to Sykesmore ranging from 3-10% for repeatedly submitting their products to meet the buyers’ needs.

Differentiators

As a company, we understand the relationship between the contracts office and the end user along with the required communications. Purchasing scientific equipment begins with developing 1) a well written scope-of-work, 2) an outline of needs and requirements, 3) defining the deliverables time frame, 4) funding (color of money), 5) invoicing, and 6) the laws and regulations that drive the process.

We are a Central Illinois small minority-owned business that understands the complexity of the exchange between a business and its customers. We have the resources to sustain the client-customer relationship and are financially healthy. We have the ability to make good financial decisions through our relationship with First Financial Bank and American Express Business. Our diverse staff gives us the unique advantage of both practical hands-on-experience and a working knowledge of how to buy the items customers want.
