Conservative estimates indicate that approximately 50% of consumer spending on heating and cooling is wasted as conditioned air escapes the structure. An energy audit based on infrared thermography can map heat transfer through the building envelope (walls, doors, windows, ducts, foundation, and roof). Knowing where conditioned air is escaping the structure can help the auditor and building owner develop a plan to target these areas to reduce heating and cooling energy consumption and costs and increase the comfort of building occupants.
